MIS portal for Jan Shikshan Sansthan
The Scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan was launched in 1967 and transferred to Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in July 2018 from Ministry of Education. Notably this is one of the oldest skill development schemes of the country with a substantial legacy to it. The scheme operates by providing annual grants-in-aid to voluntary organisations (NGOs) which are called Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSSs). The main objective of the scheme is to impart skill development training in non-formal mode to non-literates, neo-literates, and persons having rudimentary level of education upto 8th standard and school drop-outs upto 12th standard in the age-group of 15-45. The main focus of the scheme is women, SC, ST, minorities, and other disadvantaged groups of the society.
The MIS Portal of Jan Shikshan Sansthan is aimed at bringing in transparency, accountability, providing quality and timely information to all the stakeholders of the Skill Ecosystem. The portal adds value to the organization through its various modules i.e. Action Plan Submission & Approval, Beneficiary Enrolment & Assessment, Evidence based Assessment & Certification, API Integration with NITI Ayog, Finance Module for Grants management, Reports, Dashboards for monitoring & Profile page of each JSS, to name a few. Recently, Online applications for Kaushalacharya award are also being invited through the portal. Trainees can also enrol themselves on portal for various vocational courses of JSSs.
Post launch of the JSS Portal, the training targets of each JSS has been increased from 800 beneficiaries per year to 1,800 beneficiaries with an increase in grant from Rs.30.00 lakh to Rs.50.00 lakh leading to an increase in training capacity by 125% and reduction in training cost by 26%.
Enhanced monitoring & management capabilities gave the bandwidth to scale up scheme operations. Currently, 231 JSSs covering over 25 States and 3 UTs in the country are functional and 76 new JSSs have been sanctioned in May 2021. The vision of the Ministry is to cover every district in the country.
